In a time when patriotism is fading from mainstream culture and younger generations of veterans feel increasingly disconnected from traditional service organizations, Nick Busse is rewriting the playbook. As the CEO and founder of MilitaryEngagement.com, Busse is on a mission to restore pride in service, strengthen community ties, and modernize how veterans engage with government, business, and one another. Through a fusion of strategic consulting, grassroots advocacy, and digital storytelling, he’s building a new movement—one that speaks the language of today’s veterans while honoring the legacy of those who came before.
Lately, Busse has been working around the clock, not just leading the charge with his own veteran-focused consultancy, but serving as a visible force in the legislative space. He recently joined the front lines of American Legion Advocacy Day, walking the halls of California’s Capitol to engage lawmakers on critical veteran issues. His goal? To serve as a legislative compass for veterans in the Greater Sacramento area—translating policy into impact and ensuring that those who served are heard, seen, and supported.
Nick Busse has also made it a priority to identify and bring together like-minded leaders within the veteran community to craft a unified vision for long-term impact. In that effort, he connected with Sal Hernandez, founder of the Capital Region Veterans Chamber of Commerce; Tim Swaney, co-founder of the Veterans Entrepreneur Tribe of Sacramento (VETS); and Marcus Haney, CEO of Allegiant Vets. This powerful collaboration of voices and visions is already laying the foundation for a brighter future for California’s veteran community—focusing on leadership development, economic opportunity, and civic empowerment.
A major part of that future is being realized through the emergence of the Capital Region Veterans Chamber of Commerce, a newly launched 501(c)(6) organization led by veterans, for veterans—and helping reshape the way advocacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership are carried out across the region. Since its launch just a few months ago, attendance has surged, drawing in veterans from across the state. The momentum is undeniable, signaling not only immediate success but long-term promise. The Chamber has already held events tailored to the next generation of leaders while engaging directly with members of the State Assembly and Senate—positioning itself as a next-generation foundation for veteran empowerment. It’s a fresh and needed approach that resonates deeply with younger veterans and professionals seeking connection, purpose, and impact.
While Nick is looking to lead in any way he can, he gives full credit to the founders of the Capital Region Veterans Chamber of Commerce and the Veterans Entrepreneur Tribe of Sacramento for laying the groundwork and driving this movement forward. He’s proud to help elevate their mission and support a veteran-led, future-focused approach to change.
On May 3rd, during a Turning Point USA event in El Dorado County, Busse called on young leaders within the community to reclaim their voice in civic life, champion a culture of service-driven leadership, and find their purpose—using it for the greater good of society. In a room full of future changemakers, his message was clear: the time to lead is now.
Whether through policy, mentorship, or community engagement, Nick Busse continues to build a legacy rooted in action. One that doesn’t just preserve patriotism—but reawakens it.
