Lincoln, Rocklin, and Elk Grove Rank Among California’s Safest Cities

Three cities in the Sacramento region have earned high marks for public safety, according to a recent survey by Safewise. Among 153 cities evaluated across California, Lincoln, Rocklin, and Elk Grove secured spots in the top 20 — ranking 4th, 11th, and 17th respectively.

Safewise highlighted notable declines in both violent crime and property crime in Lincoln and Elk Grove, reflecting broader trends of proactive community engagement and strong public safety leadership.

It comes as little surprise that two of the region’s safest cities are located in Placer County, where elected officials have consistently prioritized law enforcement support and tough-on-crime policies.

Lincoln Mayor Holly Andreatta praised the city’s achievement in a statement on Facebook, writing: “This is a testament to our amazing public safety staff, which includes SRO, SRT, Detective Units, Patrol, and our Code Enforcement Team. It’s also a kudos to our city staff, businesses, residents, and Neighborhood Watch teams. Lincoln has built a law-abiding culture and we all look out for each other.”

Placer County’s commitment to public safety is further reflected in the work of District Attorney Morgan Gire, who has led efforts to charge fentanyl dealers with murder, and Assemblyman Joe Patterson, who has made cracking down on retail theft one of his top legislative priorities.

As California continues to wrestle with rising crime rates in many areas, Lincoln, Rocklin, and Elk Grove offer strong examples of what can be achieved when public safety remains a community-wide priority.
