Just Do Something

By Lena Vasquez, Community Features & Culture Editor

There’s a lot of hype these days about “prioritization” as if it’s some kind of magic fix for being overwhelmed. You hear it everywhere: organize your tasks, sort them by importance, make lists, rank everything.

But what if that’s actually part of the problem?

If you’re feeling swamped and everything seems urgent, trying to figure out what to do first can leave you stuck before you even begin. And the truth is, all that planning doesn’t actually get anything done.

Here’s another approach: just do something.

You’ve probably heard the old phrase, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” That’s what this is. Pick a task—any task—and do it. Then move on to the next one. Keep going.

If something made your mental list, it matters. You don’t want to leave important things unfinished just because they didn’t rank high enough on a color-coded chart.

This isn’t about apps, coaches, or systems. It’s about action. Starting. Moving. Because progress doesn’t come from thinking about doing. It comes from doing.

Before you know it, you’ll be further along than you thought. And when the work’s done, you can finally relax—without the weight of all those unfinished tasks hanging over your head.
