Billie Eilish told the Grammys it was “really hard” to accept an award while standing on stolen land. Her Hollywood compatriots cheered, but then a funny thing happened. The internet started researching whose land her $3 million Glendale mansion sits on. Turns out the Tongva tribe predated Bille’s presence by hundreds of years.
According to the Daily Mail’s reporting, the Tongva tribe has confirmed her home sits on their ancestral territory. They also confirmed something else. She hasn’t contacted them.
What is the reason for the delay? Certainly Billie is a busy individual with her major music career and probably doesn’t have time to research how to transfer her assets to the tribe.
So, in the spirit of community service, I looked into it for her.
The Tongva tribe lists their process right on their site. She simply needs to send an email to [email protected]. The people who receive it will get you set up in a jiffy and help relieve you of the burden of colonialism.
You’re welcome Billie. And any other liberals who think you’re on stolen land too.
